Banbridge District Sports Association is seeking applications from young budding stars of the future who would like to give their fledgling sports career a financial boost with a £500 bursary.

Since this scheme was launched in April 2007 in memory of Councillor John Ingram, some 22 young people aged 14 to 17 from the district have been awarded a bursary.

Past beneficiaries have used their bursary to pay for training, travel and equipment, enabling them to recoup some of the cost involved in pursuing their chosen sport to a higher level.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Friday 22 June 2012. This year’s two bursary beneficiaries will be announced at the Junior Sports Awards on Thursday 27 September 2012.
