‘Romeo and Juliet’, one of the greatest love stories of all time, will be performed by Chapterhouse Theatre Company in the beautiful surroundings of Solitude Park, Banbridge on Thursday 26 July 2012 at 7.30pm.

Organised by Banbridge District Council, the free open-air theatrical production of William Shakespeare’s celebrated literary classic is expected to attract a large number of visitors if previous performances of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’ are anything to go by.

One of the most critically acclaimed touring theatre companies in the UK, Chapterhouse Theatre Company will use magnificent period costumes and an original musical score to bring to life the tragic story of the star-crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet.

Regarded as Shakespeare’s most romantic work, the much loved tale tells the story of Romeo and Juliet, teenagers who fall deeply in love but unfortunately their families are bitter enemies. Seizing the moment, they marry in secret and make every effort to conceal their actions but alas it all ends in poetic tragedy.

Council Arts and Events Officer, Leah Duncan, commented, “This free outdoor event offers a wonderful opportunity for families who want to spend quality time together enjoying a rich cultural experience. This is the third time we have staged a theatrical production in the splendorous setting of Solitude Park, and once again we are hoping that the entire community will take advantage of this fantastic event and support the arts in the Banbridge District. Everyone is welcome to bring along a picnic and enjoy this delightful performance.”
