Fairtrade Competition Winner Announced
11 July 2012

The Beeches in Dromore, which provides supported housing for older people, has won a year’s supply of Fairtrade tea and coffee from Banbridge District Council.

The organisation, which holds regular coffee mornings and promotes Fairtrade products to residents, staff and visitors, entered a competition that was designed to support the Council’s ongoing campaign to achieve Fairtrade status for the district.

The competition was open to businesses, community groups, schools and churches and every organisation that entered had to display a certificate and pledge their support for Fairtrade in a prominent place within their premises, use at least two Fairtrade products and increase awareness of Fairtrade among staff.

Dromore councillor Carol Black, who chairs the Council’s Environmental Services Committee, presented the prize to the winning organisation and thanked all those who had entered the competition and showed their support for Fairtrade.

Banbridge District Council is still continuing its campaign to become a Fairtrade district and is asking for local organisations to support this.

Call 4066 0604 to add your organisation’s name to the growing list of Fairtrade supporters in the district or to join Banbridge District Fairtrade Steering Committee.
