|Treat Your Feet to the Beat of Footloose in Dromore Town Park|
07 September 2012
The 1984 blockbuster ‘Footloose’ starring Golden Globe winner Kevin Bacon will be screened outdoors in Dromore Town Park on Friday 21 September from 8.30pm until approximately 10.15pm.
‘Footloose’ tells the story of an upbeat Chicago teen who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music have been banned because a local preacher believes it to be a bad influence on the town’s young folk.
Supported by his classmates, Bacon’s character Ren McCormack wants to do away with the no dancing law and have a senior prom. However, to achieve this, they must first go before the town council and fight for their right to party. Will they ever dance again?
People throughout the district are expected to put on their dancing shoes and come along with a picnic blanket to enjoy this free family event.
And to ensure a real cinema experience is had by all, family favourites such as popcorn and pizza along with a range of other refreshments will be on sale at the event.
Domino’s Pizza will have a stall at the event serving up some delicious piping-hot pizza and for added convenience you can pre-order your pizza on 4066 0770. All orders will be delivered directly to the park.
Footloose was a major hit as was its soundtrack, which spent a grand total of ten weeks at number one and sold over seven million copies. Both young and old are guaranteed to love this toe-tapping, feel-good film.
So come along and watch the screen come alive with the rebellious dance moves of Kevin Bacon and his classmates as they shake up their sleepy American town.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to this movie as another cult classic ‘Grease’ will be screened in Solitude Park, Banbridge on Friday 28 September at 8pm.
Both outdoor cinema events have been organised by Banbridge District Council.
