Town centres play an important role in the District's economic development. Town centre development aims to encourage growth within the retail and business sector, to create improvements to the environment of all town centres and provide management of town centres throughout the District.

The key responsibilities provided by this service include:

• Promoting the public perception of the towns in the Banbridge District as great places to shop, visit, live or invest
• Focusing the efforts and resources of all key stakeholders to work together on strengthening the local retail and business sector
• Assisting in liaising with potential investors and developers to encourage increased investment in our town centres
• Co-ordinating the efforts, resources and interests of all stakeholders to enhance the town centres
• Undertaking specific initiatives to improve and develop the attractiveness, accessibility and security of the town centre
• Developing and supporting marketing initiatives aimed at attracting shoppers and visitors from the local area and further afield
• Improving communication between business to business and business to visitor in the town centres
