Banbridge District Council has three core functional departments: Leisure and Development, Corporate Services and Environmental Services. Each department has its own specific areas of responsibility. The Council's Environmental Services Department encompasses the three sub-departments of Building Control, Environmental Health and Technical Services. The departments and their responsibilities are as follows:

Departments

Corporate Services	Accounting, IT and audit functions, community planning, co-ordination of corporate strategy, corporate marketing, registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, human resources, training and industrial relations.
Environmental Services	Environmental health and building control, licensing and dog control, refuse collection and street cleaning, waste recycling programme, minor works and public conveniences.
Leisure and Development	Arts and culture, community relations and development, community safety, economic development, district policing, leisure services, local and regional partnerships, parks, open spaces, public rights of way, rural development, tourism and town centre development.

Sub-Departments

Building Control	Building regulations, dangerous structures, postal numbering, property certificates and street naming.
Environmental Health	Consumer safety, dog control, environmental protection, food safety, health and safety, licensing and regulatory services, public health and housing.
Technical Services	Bulky waste, cemeteries, public conveniences, recycling, refuse collection and street cleaning.
