European Heritage Day is an annual event that takes place every September in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. It provides visitors and residents alike with an opportunity to visit historic buildings normally closed to the public. Locations visited as part of the tour in previous years have included sites such as Gilford Castle and Dromantine College. Sites visited during the 2005 European Heritage Day Tour included:
- Gilford Mill
- Convent of Mercy
- Newry
- Newry Museum and Bagenalis Town
- Kilkeel Parish Church
- Mourne Park House and gardens
