Banbridge District Council is committed to enhancing and developing sports opportunities for everyone living and working in the District of Banbridge. Local sports clubs can apply directly to Banbridge District Council for grant assistance if their application seeks to enhance and promote sporting opportunities for all. The Council no longer receives applications for grant aid for sporting individuals as Banbridge District Sports Association is now responsible for assessing and approving such applications. If you belong to a sports club or represent the District in your chosen sport, read the information below to find out how you can apply for a sports development grant.
Grants for Sports Clubs
The Council's sports development grant aid scheme has been developed to enable sports clubs within the Banbridge District to progress to a level they desire. Four types of grants are available to sports groups under the Council's sports development grant aid scheme. They include core funding, minor sports events, representative sporting clubs and sports improvement grants.

- A maximum grant of £100 may be awarded to applicants who are participating within Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- A maximum grant of £150 may be awarded to applicants who are participating within Great Britain.
- A maximum grant of £300 may be awarded to applicants who are participating beyond Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
Only one application per person will be considered per annum. You or the club to which you belong must be an affiliated member of the Banbridge District Sports Association. Click on the links below to either view or download policy information and an application form.
Completed application forms should be sent to:

Banbridge Sportstar Club
If your individual application to Banbridge District Sports Association for a sporting individual grant is successful, you may also become a member of Banbridge Sportstar Club and to enjoy the many benefits associated with this membership. These include being able to use designated recreation facilities owned and managed by Banbridge District Council on a complimentary basis during a twelve month period in recognition of your sporting achievements. Full members will be allocated 30 sessions and associate members 15 sessions.
Grant awarded under the Sports Development grant aid scheme are usually modest in size, although the Council can assist with core funding and partnership fund capital projects. The Council reserves the right to allocate funding on the basis of need. Groups are not automatically entitled to a sports development grant and every application for assistance will be required to demonstrate that reasonable efforts to secure funding from alternative sources have been made. Where appropriate groups will be referred to other sources of support for sports development work.
